Angine de Poitrine operate somewhere between rock concert, performance art experiment and a very elaborate inside joke. The Canadian duo build their music around pulsing drums, looped microtonal guitar lines and repetitive structures that gradually spiral into something strangely hypnotic. Performing anonymously in Dada-inspired masks and costumes, the band treat rhythm like both a weapon and a punchline, folding acid techno, disco and noise rock into tightly wound compositions that constantly threaten to fall apart but never quite do. Following a breakout KEXP session and increasingly chaotic live reputation, ‘Vol. 2’ pushes their sound further into the red: faster, sharper and gleefully over the top.
