Ribbon Skirt are a Montreal-based outfit led by Anishinaabe musician Tashiina Buswa and guitarist Billy Riley. Their sound is raw and enveloping, pairing angular guitars with driving rhythms to explore memory, grief, and Buswa’s Indigenous heritage. Following their debut album ‘Bite Down’, which earned a Polaris Music Prize shortlisting, the band has quickly become a significant fixture in the indie landscape. It is music that avoids the usual post-punk tropes in favour of something far more personal, resulting in a live energy that is both heavy and remarkably honest.
